Rescue Boat Converted into Comfortable Pleasure Craft – 7.20 Meter Polyester Sloop with Diesel Engine
This robust sloop, originally built as a sea rescue boat, was converted in 2000 into a comfortable and spacious open sloop. With a length of 7.20 meters and a width of 2.60 meters, this boat can accommodate approximately 16 to 18 people, making it suitable for larger groups, families, or even commercial applications such as tours or rentals.
The hull of this sloop is made of polyester and has a round bilge shape, which contributes to stability and sailing characteristics on inland waters. The flat transom and the Enfield stern drive ensure efficient propulsion. The boat has a draft of 45 cm and an air draft of 120 cm, making it ideal for use on canals, ditches, lakes, and rivers. The standing height inside is 160 cm.
The sloop is equipped with an inboard diesel engine from the brand Peugeot, built in 1996. This four-cylinder engine delivers a power of 52 hp and is electrically started. The engine has approximately 1000 operating hours and is coupled with an Enfield stern drive. The fuel consumption is around 4 liters per hour, with a diesel tank of 120 liters. The maximum speed is about 15 km/h, which is sufficient for relaxing trips on inland waters.
Onboard, there are various measuring instruments, including a fuel tank gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and tachometer. The electrical installation consists of an alternator, voltmeter, and a 12V system with a Bosch generator. There is one battery onboard with a capacity of 45 Ah.
Although it is an open sloop, some comfort-enhancing elements are provided. There is a manual toilet available, and the boat is heated via an air heater. Steering is done via a steering wheel at the inner position, with a single rudder.
The deck equipment includes a sprayhood, cockpit tent, tarpaulins, cockpit table, teak deck, fenders, and lines. For anchoring, there are two anchors available, secured with chain and line. A lifebuoy is available as a safety feature.
The boat was last taken out of the water for maintenance in 2025, during which antifouling was also applied. No signs of osmosis were detected. The boat is not registered, but VAT has been paid. No special defects have been reported.
The current owner has had the boat since 1975 and converted it into an open sloop in 2000. Since then, the boat has been used for pleasure cruising, day trips, and weekend outings with family. The sloop has mainly been used on inland waters, including canals, ditches, lakes, and rivers.
This converted rescue sloop combines the sturdiness of a professional rescue vessel with the comfort and space of a pleasure sloop. Thanks to the spacious layout, reliable engine, and low air draft, this ship is widely deployable on various inland waters. Whether for relaxing day trips with family or commercial use, this sloop offers a solid foundation for a wide range of boating activities.
