The Tullio Abbate Sea Star 23 is a sporty and streamlined speedboat of Italian make, built in the year 2000. The Sea Star 23 is equipped with a powerful Mercruiser 5.7L V8 inboard gasoline engine with a power of 270 hp. This engine, built in 2000, has approximately 100 operating hours and is electrically started. In 2024, extensive engine maintenance was performed, including the replacement of oil, impeller, spark plugs, coil, and a complete cleaning and adjustment of the carburetor. The boat achieves a cruising speed of about 50 km/h and a top speed of approximately 75 km/h, making it suitable for sporty sailing and fast travel.
In recent years, various technical and cosmetic upgrades have been made. In 2022, the fuel tank was replaced, and the entire interior was renewed with an investment of approximately €3,000. A deck cover was also installed, valued at €1,500. The engine received a major service, including the replacement of the impeller housing.
In 2024, the underwater hull was treated with a five-layer Epifanes primer system and new antifouling. Documentation of this is available. Additionally, the complete stern drive, including the trim system, was overhauled with a value of approximately €10,000. The throttle and associated cables were renewed, as well as the analog meters, which were replaced by a modern Raymarine CAN-bus system. This system allows engine parameters to be read digitally via a touchscreen chart plotter with EU coverage.
The electrical installation was completely renewed in 2024 and adapted to current standards, including the fuse box. The boat is equipped with an alternator, voltmeter, and a 12V system with a 200 Ah battery.
The boat is equipped with extensive navigation equipment, including AIS, GPS, chart plotter, compass, and a log/speedometer. The steering position is located outside and is operated via a steering wheel. The boat features a self-draining cockpit, electric bilge pump, and various safety features such as 8 life jackets (inspection date unknown), a fire extinguisher, oars, and an extra fuel tank.
An anchor with chain is present. There is no anchor winch installed. The boat comes with a deck cover, cockpit table, fenders, and lines. Two large storage compartments are placed in the engine room for extra storage space. A built-in 12V cool/freezer drawer offers extra comfort during day trips.
The standing height inside is 120 cm, making the boat especially suitable for day trips and short stays on board. There is no toilet or heating available. The boat is equipped with a refrigerator and is designed for pleasure cruising and day trips on the water.
A notable addition is the recent Ruddersafe, specially designed for this type of stern drive. This addition contributes to improved maneuverability and control while sailing. The boat shows some dry cracks in the paint on the foredeck, which are cosmetic in nature.
