The "Somar" is a 1930 wooden Petterson Snipa designed by C. G. Petterson and built in Sweden. With a length of 7.20 meters, a width of 2.80 meters, and a draft of 0.70 meters, this classic boat offers charming and nostalgic cruising. The vertical clearance of 1.75 meters makes her suitable for various waterways.
Despite her age, the "Somar" is in good condition. Maintenance is current, with the latest antifouling treatment and removal from the water for maintenance in 2023. Documentation such as a chimney inspection report, technical documentation, electrical diagrams and a newspaper article about the restoration in 2009 are present.
The boat is recognized as a sailing monument and through the Swedish Classics Club (zweedseklassiekerclub.nl) included in the Federatie Varend Erfgoed Nederland (fven.nl).
The boat offers additional berths for two people and is equipped with cushions for comfort. The steering position is inside and is operated by a steering wheel. With a weight of 2500 kg, the "Somar" feels stable on the water.
The "Somar" is equipped with a 2.4 kV electric motor, installed in 2009, which operates at 48V. This motor makes the boat environmentally friendly and quiet in operation. She reaches a maximum speed of 13 km/hour. For charging the battery, charging cables and adapters are provided, suitable for both charging poles and its own power grid (230V, 16A). The powerful battery is safely stored in a waterproof plastic case with cover, and there is preparation for a solar panel. Electrical facilities include shore power, an inverter, a battery charger, and a voltmeter, with voltages of 12V, 24V, and 220V.
The powerful battery type lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4) has many advantages, namely:
- No maintenance
- Up to 90% deep discharge
- Deep discharge protection (10%)
- 5x as many charging cycles
- High energy density
- Light weight
With a full battery, this ensures a long sailing time of about 12 hours, great reliability and long service life.
With the mobile Wifi (Mifi) the status of the battery can be remotely monitored and with so-called geo-fencing the position of the boat can be tracked and is thus secured against theft.
The exterior equipment of the "Somar" includes an anchor with line attachment, fenders and lines, and a cockpit tent for additional protection and comfort. For safety, the boat is equipped with an electric bilge pump.
The electric boat meets next year's requirement for sailing in historic city centers such as Amsterdam, and with a headroom of 1.75 m, most bridges are no problem to pass under. But of course you can also enjoy this boat in complete silence on lakes and ponds. The boat is ready to welcome its crew and guests for relaxing cruises and unforgettable moments on the water. In the cozy cockpit you can enjoy a delicious glass of wine with 5 people and in the cozy deckhouse there are benches with cushions where it is comfortable to sit when the weather turns.
In short the Somar combines classic charm with modern conveniences, making her a unique and enjoyable choice for any lover of historic boats.
