Unique Helderse vlet with a construction year of 1960 and a complete restoration in the year 2003. The authentic look is a pleasure to watch. The real skippers recognize the beauty of wood and the beautiful lines of the ship. The boat has a polyester hull (the wood is covered with polyester) with bilge keels. The bilge keels make it possible to drop dry and they also help with the maneuverability and stability of the ship. Because of the polyester on the lower ship, the vlet can stand a season (or more) on the shore without problems with the wood. The ship therefore has the charm and splendor of wood, combined with the convenience of polyester!
To be able to cope with the waves at sea, the ship is equipped with a rock solid 64 hp Perkins diesel (1980). Because of the enormous capacity it is a piece of cake for the Perkins to set the ship in motion. The engine will be fully checked on June 20 and will also undergo a major overhaul.
When purchased in 2000, a large part of the mahogany was damaged and so in 2003 it was decided to replace most of it. All modifications have been done with the same batch of mahogany and teak to keep the look as authentic as possible. The layout has been partly adapted to the current form and hydraulic steering and a bilge pump have also been added. On the outside, 2 cm thick mahogany was used. The deck, the seating areas and the floorboards are made of solid teak and mahogany. Because of its "own" design, this is truly a unique ship. A few years ago, the boat was varnished for the last time, so everything still looks beautiful. The ship has always been inside in the summer and winter, also to preserve the paint and appearance.
In 2020 a new battery was put in and a new ignition switch was mounted. This is the former supply ship of radio Veronica. During the time radio Veronica was at sea, this little ship came to supply people with food, drink and other necessities. Unfortunately the pictures of the original ship have been lost. The history will of course always be attached to the ship.
The engine has been completely checked, had a major overhaul and the fuel pump has been completely overhauled. Possible invoice provable of course.
