Motor Barge 930 with Spacious Cabin
What kind of boat is this Motor Barge 930?
This 1985 Motor Barge 930 is a characterful steel motorboat with a flat bottom, plenty of interior space and an inviting layout for relaxing days on the water. With a length of 9.30 metres, a beam of 3.40 metres and a draught of just 80 centimetres, she is ideally suited to inland waterways, lakes, ponds and rivers. The low air draught of approximately 2.20 metres allows her to pass under many bridges, meaning that a wide range of cruising areas remains accessible.
The boat combines the characteristics of a flat-bottomed vessel with the comfort of a cabin boat. Her steel hull is solidly built and provides a reassuring feeling while cruising. According to the owner, the hull plating is particularly thick. A mechanic who connected the diesel heater’s exhaust was impressed by the thickness of the steel and estimated it to be more than 8 mm. The hull thickness has not been officially measured. Inside, she offers approximately 1.90 metres of headroom, allowing taller people to move comfortably through the cabin. The varnished wood finish gives the interior a warm, classic appearance.
Motor Barge 930 now in the online auction. Everyone can place bids until 19 October 2026.
Why is this steel motorboat interesting?
The Motor Barge 930 offers an impressive amount of space for her size. She has two permanent berths and two additional berths, making weekend trips and short holidays easily possible. The interior is practically laid out with a dining area, galley, refrigerator, cooking appliance, oven, mattresses and hot-water system. There is also plenty of storage space. The cabin contains various storage compartments, cupboards and hatches, including a convenient hanging locker for clothing.
The seating area beneath the cockpit tent can easily be converted into a large bed. There is also a berth with a mattress on the foredeck. This makes her suitable for day trips, weekends away or longer stays on board. The complete inventory, two televisions, gas bottles, mattresses and other equipment present on board are included.
Is the engine operational?
No, the engine is currently not operational. The boat has a 1985 Peugeot 2.5 diesel engine, a four-cylinder inboard diesel with a stated output of 50 hp. According to the owner, the engine itself runs, but there appears to be a leaking head gasket or a leaking heat exchanger. The exact cause must be determined by a specialist, so the engine requires attention before the boat can be used under power again.
The engine is electrically started and the installation includes a fuel tank of approximately 100 litres. On board are a fuel gauge, oil-pressure gauge, temperature gauge and rev counter. The previously stated cruising speed is approximately 9 kilometres per hour, with a maximum speed of around 11 kilometres per hour. These speeds can of course only be reassessed once the engine has been technically repaired. For a buyer with technical knowledge or a suitable boatyard, this could provide an interesting basis for further work.
What work has recently been carried out?
In 2025, the boat was repainted at De Haan boatyard using a double coating. Her underwater hull was also given a new layer of antifouling that year. The Motor Barge 930 has therefore recently received attention to protect her exterior. The owner states that the hull is made of thick steel and shows no weak spots.
The hoses and connections for the cooking appliance have also recently been replaced. According to the owner, the gas cooker works properly. The two gas bottles are stored in a designated exterior compartment in the bow of the boat. A diesel heater has also recently been connected, making time on board more comfortable during cooler days.
How is the boat’s interior laid out?
The cabin has an atmospheric varnished-wood finish and a practical layout for recreational use. The dining area provides a pleasant place for meals, coffee or a game during a relaxing afternoon on board. The galley is equipped with a cooking appliance, oven, refrigerator and hot water. The water tank has a capacity of approximately 150 litres. The sanitary facilities include a manual toilet with a holding tank of approximately 200 litres. The toilet waste is therefore not discharged directly into the open water.
A hot-air heating system is installed for heating. The electrical installation comprises four 12-volt gel batteries, a battery charger, alternator, inverter, voltmeter and shore-power connection. In addition, a Victron Phoenix Easy Plus 1600 has been installed. There are five batteries on board, and both 12-volt and 220-volt power are available.
Is this boat suitable for relaxing boating holidays?
Yes, her layout and equipment are intended to provide comfortable accommodation on board. The Motor Barge 930 has been used for day trips, recreational cruising, weekend getaways, holidays and fishing. According to the owner, the boat has only been used during the summer. Antifreeze is used in winter to prevent frost damage.
The spacious bathing platform with swim ladder is particularly appealing to families and people who enjoy recreational activities on the water. The platform provides easy access to the water and a pleasant place from which to fish or sunbathe.
The electric bow thruster assists with manoeuvring in harbours and while mooring and, according to the owner, functions properly. Combined with her short turning circle, this makes her easy to handle in confined spaces despite her dimensions. The steering position is located inside and is equipped with a steering wheel. The small roof above the wheelhouse has been made watertight with canvas and requires attention. According to the owner, the boat is currently watertight throughout. Outside, the cockpit table, outdoor cushions, cockpit tent, bow and stern rails, guardrails, fenders and mooring lines provide additional comfort and convenience.
What makes her suitable for low bridges and shallow water?
With an air draught of approximately 2.20 metres and a draught of 80 centimetres, this flat-bottomed boat can be used on many different inland waterways. She is therefore well suited to cruising areas with low bridges, shallow passages and smaller lakes and ponds that are less accessible to larger motor yachts. The flat bottom contributes to her practical cruising range and makes her suitable for relaxed trips close to the shore.
The boat weighs approximately 8,000 kilograms and is offered without a trailer. Her combination of steel construction, spaciousness, shallow draught and low air draught makes her a distinctive cabin boat for anyone looking to combine comfort with accessibility.
Why is the Motor Barge 930 being auctioned?
The current owner purchased her in 2024. In 2025, she was repainted at De Haan and given new antifouling. Due to personal circumstances, the boat is now being offered through BoatAuction. She has created many wonderful memories during enjoyable days on the water and while fishing from the bathing platform.
The Motor Barge 930 is being offered as a spacious steel motorboat with an atmospheric interior, extensive equipment and a clear technical challenge involving the Peugeot diesel engine. For a buyer who is willing to address the engine and then enjoy her generous cabin, low air draught and comfortable layout, she offers a versatile foundation for new boating adventures.
