This cabin boat is not just any classic, but a piece of watersports history. It is the first type (at the time still without a name) built at the VEB Rechlin yard, with a design by Hans Böttcher. In the period 1956–1957, according to the available information, only 41 examples were produced, executed in mahogany. The boat was first presented in 1956 at the Leipzig Business Fair, which makes her background especially interesting for enthusiasts of historic motorboats and classic German yard quality. This specific example has hull number 22, underlining its provenance and authenticity. Documentation includes, among other things, information about the build location and an engine document.
Hull, build and appearance: mahogany and V-bottom
The hull is made of wood, with the warm and timeless look that makes mahogany boats so beloved. In addition, the foredeck and aft deck were replaced, using mahogany and American pine. In 2025 the boat was taken out of the water again for maintenance and antifouling was applied.
Engine and performance: Mitsubishi diesel inboard (2021)
A major plus is the modern inboard diesel engine: a Mitsubishi L3E/CM 3.27 from 2021 with 27 hp and three cylinders, electric start. This setup suits the character of the boat well: relaxed cruising at around 6 km/h, yet with enough reserve to move along briskly when desired, with a stated top speed of up to approx. 18 km/h. The boat is equipped with a flexible gearbox and a water-lubricated propeller shaft with a 3-blade propeller (14”/12”), contributing to smooth power transmission and a pleasant feel underway. The diesel tank has a capacity of 50 litres and is fitted with a tank gauge with sensor, so you can easily monitor the fuel level.
