Specifications
Motorboat 400 open polyester motorboat – compact sloop for canals, lakes and rivers
The Motorboat 400 is a practical, open polyester motorboat aimed at anyone looking for a compact and manoeuvrable boat for relaxed leisure cruising. With a length of approx. 4.00 metres and a beam of about 1.20 metres, this type of open boat is ideally suited for use on canals and ditches, but also for calm trips on lakes and rivers. Thanks to its modest dimensions, mooring is often easy and the boat remains straightforward to handle, also for watersports enthusiasts looking for an accessible entry into boating with an outboard engine.
The design is typical of an open day boat: accessible, lightweight and focused on comfortable time outdoors on the water. The boat is in reasonable condition, leaving room for a buyer who likes to finish the details.
Motorboat 400 now in the online auction. Anyone can bid up to and including 9 March 2026.
Dimensions, handling and intended use
With a draft of approx. 0.20 metres, the Motorboat 400 is interesting for shallow waters and routes where a larger sloop is less practical. Think narrow canals, shallow ditches and sheltered waterways where manoeuvrability is more important than top speed. The combination of a compact length and shallow draft makes this open motorboat suitable for short trips, an afternoon on the water or a relaxed loop through the city.
On lakes and rivers, this size performs best in calm weather and at a moderate cruising speed. The boat is primarily intended for recreational use: a day of boating fun, getting some fresh air and enjoying the surroundings, or simply practical transport over short distances on inland waters.
Polyester hull: low-maintenance and suitable for recreation
The hull is made of polyester, a material widely used for open motorboats and sloops because of its favourable combination of weight, shape retention and ease of use. Polyester is well suited to a boat that is launched regularly and taken back ashore, and it is also relatively easy to clean. For buyers looking for an open polyester boat as a basis for recreational cruising, this type of hull is a logical choice.
Because there is no recent information about when the boat was last taken out of the water or when antifouling was applied, it is advisable to pay extra attention during viewing to the condition of the hull and the overall finish. This provides a clear picture of what you can use immediately and what you may want to address.
Engine: outboard with pull start (operation unknown)
The Motorboat 400 is equipped with one pull-start outboard engine. An outboard suits this type of open boat well: it is a common solution that keeps the setup compact and can make maintenance and any replacement manageable. The operation of the engine is currently unknown. For a potential buyer, this means it is advisable to have the engine inspected and serviced after purchase.
Boating experience, style and options for personal customisation
As an open boat, the Motorboat 400 is all about direct contact with the water and the surroundings. You sit close to the water surface, which makes cruising on canals and inland waters extra lively. This is a boat that invites spontaneous trips: cast off, take a short cruise and moor at a jetty or quay.
At the same time, this model offers opportunities for personalisation. Consider adding or renewing seat cushions, fitting a simple cover, or optimising the layout for your use. Anyone looking for a compact motorboat or small sloop as an entry-level model will find the Motorboat 400 an accessible base with a clear purpose: enjoyable boating on inland waters, in a size that is easy to handle.
This Motorboat 400 is therefore interesting for buyers looking for a 4-metre open motorboat for recreational use, and who do not mind carefully assessing the engine and general condition during viewing.
