General Characteristics of the Cabin Sailboat 650
The Cabin Sailboat 650 is a steel sailboat with a length of 6.50 meters and a width of 2.00 meters. The draft is 0.75 meters, making the boat suitable for use on shallower inland waters such as canals, ditches, lakes, and rivers. The hull is made of steel, a material known for its robustness and durability, provided it is well-maintained.
Cabin Sailboat 650 now in the online auction. Everyone can bid until November 24, 2025.
Construction and Material Use
The hull of this cabin sailboat is entirely constructed of steel. Steel provides a solid foundation for a sailboat but requires regular maintenance to prevent corrosion and other forms of wear. There is no information available about the year of construction of the boat, nor about the last time it was taken out of the water for inspection or maintenance. There is also no known recent antifouling treatment, which is important for protecting the underwater hull against fouling.
Interior and Layout
Although there is no specific information available about the interior layout, it is likely that the boat has a simple cabin, given its type and dimensions. Cabin sailboats of this size are typically equipped with a small living space with sleeping accommodations and limited facilities for day trips or short stays on board. The current state of the interior is not described in detail, but given the general condition of the boat, renovation is likely necessary.
Motorization and Technical Data
The boat is equipped with an inboard motor, the brand, type, and year of which are unknown. The operation of the motor is also not established. This means that technical inspection and overhaul may be needed to restore or improve the boat's propulsion.
History and Use
The boat was seized by the municipality of Zaanstad. There is no further information available about the previous owner or the maintenance history. The boat was used for pleasure cruising on inland waters, including canals, ditches, lakes, and rivers. This indicates a usage profile primarily focused on recreational sailing in calm waters.
Current Condition and Points of Attention
The boat is described as a fixer-upper. There is deferred maintenance, which means that both the exterior and interior likely need attention. Potential buyers should consider inspecting the steelwork, the motor, and the technical installations. The absence of recent maintenance records and antifouling treatments underscores the importance of a thorough inspection before proceeding with a purchase.
Conclusion
The Cabin Sailboat 650 offers a foundation for enthusiasts of classic steel sailboats looking for a project boat. Due to its dimensions, the boat is suitable for use on various inland waters. However, the current condition requires a significant investment of time and resources to make the boat seaworthy again. For those interested with experience in ship renovation or access to the right facilities, this vessel can be an interesting starting point for a personal restoration project.
