Aquanaut 760 from 1978 – Steel Motorboat with Practical Layout and Low Air Draft
This Aquanaut 760 from 1978 is a steel motorboat with a length of 7.50 meters and a width of 2.70 meters. Thanks to the shallow draft of just 80 cm and an air draft of 2.30 meters, this vessel is particularly suitable for navigating shallow inland waters, lakes, and rivers. The boat features a V-bottom and a single rudder, contributing to stable sailing characteristics and maneuverability, even at lower speeds.
Inside, the Aquanaut 760 offers a headroom of 1.80 meters, providing ample freedom of movement. The boat has two fixed berths and one additional berth, making it suitable for short vacations or weekend trips with two to three people. The accommodation includes a refrigerator with integrated freezer (12V), a stove, oven, mattresses, and a manual toilet. The toilet discharge is directly connected to open water.
At the back of the boat, there is an open cockpit with a cockpit tent that can be fully opened. This allows for sheltered seating or enjoying the open air. The cockpit is equipped with a cockpit table and outdoor cushions, enhancing onboard comfort. At the rear, there is a swim platform, facilitating easy access in and out of the water.
The boat is powered by a Mercedes OM636 diesel engine with a power output of 34 hp. This four-cylinder engine is electrically started and consumes an average of 2 liters of diesel per hour. The cruising speed is around 9 km/h, with a maximum speed of approximately 12 km/h. The fuel tank has a capacity of 120 liters, sufficient for longer trips without needing to refuel.
The engine is from the same year as the boat (1978) and is reported by the owner to be operational. The boat was taken out of the water for maintenance in 2024 and received a new antifouling layer in the same year.
The electrical installation on board consists of two batteries with a total capacity of 335 Ah. The batteries are separated from each other to prevent them from draining each other. One battery is intended for lighting and other consumers, the other for starting the engine. The batteries are charged via a solar panel, alternator, and shore power. Additionally, the boat is equipped with a battery charger, inverter, and voltmeter. The electrical installation operates on both 12V and 220V.
In terms of navigation and measuring instruments, the boat is equipped with a fuel tank gauge, oil pressure gauge, and temperature gauge. For anchoring, there is an anchor with a line available. The boat is further equipped with fenders, lines, davits, and a dinghy.
The Aquanaut 760 comes with a dinghy suitable for two adults. This dinghy is equipped with a Yamaha 2.5 hp 4-stroke outboard motor, making it possible to take small trips or easily go ashore.
The current owner has used the boat for pleasure cruising, day trips, weekend getaways, and vacations. The boat has mainly been used on inland waters, lakes, and rivers. Thanks to the shallow draft, the vessel is suitable for shallow water areas, such as the waters in Groningen. The 4-cylinder diesel engine provides sufficient power to comfortably sail even against the current. A documentation folder is available with information from the previous owner, including photos of the construction and the work carried out.
