Specifications
The Oud Huijzer 560 is a polyester sloop with a length of 5.60 meters and a width of 2.10 meters. This sloop was built in 2007 by the Dutch shipyard Oud Huijzer and is designed for use on inland waters such as canals, lakes, ponds, and rivers. Thanks to its limited draft of 45 cm and a clearance height of 105 cm, the boat is suitable for various sailing areas, including shallow waters and low bridges.
Hull and Construction
The hull of the Oud Huijzer 560 features a V-bottom shape, which contributes to the stability and maneuverability of the sloop. The hull material is polyester, a commonly used material in recreational boating due to its low-maintenance properties. The boat has a self-draining cockpit, meaning rainwater is automatically drained, enhancing ease of use.
Motorization and Performance
The sloop is equipped with a Suzuki outboard motor of 15 hp, type DF15, with serial number 01502F-784091. This motor is electrically started and has two cylinders. The motor is from the same year as the boat (2007). In 2025, the motor received maintenance, including the replacement of the impeller, oil change, and lubrication. The cruising speed is approximately 15 km/h, making this sloop suitable for leisurely trips on calm waters.
The motor is placed in a well, providing a quieter sailing experience by dampening the engine noise. The fuel tank has a capacity of 22 liters, which is sufficient for day trips without refueling.
Steering and Equipment
The steering of the Oud Huijzer 560 is via a steering wheel located within the cockpit. The boat is equipped with an electric start battery and a battery charger. There is one battery on board.
Regarding equipment, the sloop is equipped with a spray hood, outdoor deck cushions, a tarpaulin, fenders and lines, a swim ladder, and a boat hook. The spray hood was cleaned, repaired, and impregnated in 2024. Additionally, four life jackets are included, contributing to onboard safety.
Maintenance and Condition
The underside of the boat was treated with primer and antifouling in 2025. The waterline was also cleaned and polished in the same year. No signs of osmosis were detected.
Usage and Sailing Experience
The Oud Huijzer 560 has been used for day trips and recreational boating. Thanks to its limited draft and compact dimensions, the sloop is easy to maneuver, even in narrower waters such as canals and ditches. The boat offers enough space for multiple passengers and is suitable for relaxing trips with family or friends.
