Jeanneau Fantasia 27 with variable draft
What kind of boat is the Jeanneau Fantasia 27?
The Jeanneau Fantasia 27 is a polyester cruising yacht from 1989, designed by Philippe H. Harlé. With a length of 8.30 metres and a beam of 2.90 metres, she offers a manageable size for trips on inland waterways and sheltered coastal areas. The boat has a variable draft. In its minimum position, the draft is 0.80 metres, while with the system fully extended, the maximum draft is 1.60 metres. This allows her to reach places where a boat with a fixed deep keel would be less suitable.
The air draft is approximately 11 metres. Inside, there is standing headroom of around 1.75 metres. The Jeanneau Fantasia 27 has tiller steering in the cockpit and a single rudder. Her layout is designed for comfortable stays on board, with four permanent berths and two additional berths. This makes her suitable for short holidays, weekend trips or relaxed time on the water with family or friends.
Jeanneau Fantasia 27 now in the online auction. Everyone can place a bid until 19 October 2026.
What is the layout on board?
Inside, the boat has a dining area, mattresses, a galley and a manual toilet. The galley is equipped with a two-burner gas stove. The water tank has a capacity of approximately 60 litres. The toilet discharge leads directly into open water. This is an important point to consider when using the boat and sailing in areas with local regulations concerning toilet discharge.
The berths are distributed between the saloon and the forward part of the interior. The aft upholstery has already been removed. New upholstery is included, but still needs to be fitted. This means that you can finish this part of the interior according to your own preferences. The refrigerator is temperamental and requires attention. These points have been included in the description of the boat’s condition.
What engine and equipment are on board?
The Jeanneau Fantasia 27 is powered by a 1995 Yanmar 2GM20 inboard diesel engine. The engine produces 16 hp and is electrically started. The fuel tank has a capacity of approximately 30 litres. According to the available information, the engine is operational. The engine installation is suitable for manoeuvring in harbours, in light winds and when leaving or entering a berth.
The boat has a 12-volt electrical system with one 70-amp battery, a battery charger, an alternator and a shore-power connection. Navigation and monitoring equipment includes a depth sounder, compass, log and speedometer, and VHF radio. The equipment is therefore suited to the basic requirements of sailing. The operation and general condition of the equipment can be checked during the viewing day.
What does the sail plan consist of?
The boat has an aluminium mast and two sails: a mainsail and a jib. The jib is fitted with a furling system. The sails are in reasonable condition. For a future owner, it is advisable to inspect the sails, halyards, sheets and deck hardware carefully and to take possible future maintenance into account. Tiller steering provides direct contact with the rudder and suits the character of this compact cruising yacht.
Outside, the Jeanneau Fantasia 27 has a self-draining cockpit, a cockpit table, a cover, fenders and lines. For anchoring, one anchor is included with chain and line. The anchor windlass is operated manually. A lifebuoy is also on board. No trailer is included.
What is known about the condition?
The boat’s overall condition is described as reasonable. She was taken out of the water for maintenance in 2025. The last antifouling treatment was carried out in 2024. The points requiring attention are the removed aft upholstery, for which new upholstery is available, and the refrigerator, which is temperamental. The remaining visible condition, operation and wear can be assessed personally during the viewing day.
With a boat from 1989, signs of use and components requiring attention are to be expected. Anyone looking for tips on buying a boat should therefore consider not only the layout and dimensions, but also the condition of the rigging, engine, electronics, interior and deck hardware. The available information provides a starting point, while your own assessment during the viewing day remains important.
Who is this boat suitable for?
This Jeanneau Fantasia 27 is suitable for someone looking for an affordable cruising yacht with variable draft and practical accommodation. Her size makes her large enough for staying on board, while remaining easy to manage. The four permanent berths and two additional berths provide space for several people, while the dining area and galley contribute to a more comfortable longer stay.
Anyone looking to buy a second-hand boat with a classic design and an inboard diesel engine may want to include this boat in their comparison. However, she does require a realistic assessment of her age and the points requiring attention mentioned above. The equipment on board provides a useful basis, but future work on the upholstery and refrigerator should be taken into consideration.
What should you look out for during the viewing day?
During the viewing day, you can inspect the Jeanneau Fantasia 27, her interior, engine compartment, deck, rigging and inventory up close. Pay attention to the general condition of the polyester, the condition of the cockpit, the operation of the closures and the condition of the sail hardware. The available documentation and the operation of the technical systems also deserve attention.
For anyone searching online to buy a boat, this Jeanneau Fantasia 27 is a model worth taking a closer look at when variable draft and sleeping accommodation are important. The viewing day gives you the opportunity to assess her condition yourself before placing a bid through Boat Auction.
