Specifications
Vlet 400 – Steel Sloop for Versatile Use on Inland Waters
General Characteristics of the Vlet 400
The Vlet 400 is a compact steel boat with a length of 4 meters and a width of 1.20 meters. Thanks to its shallow draft of only 20 centimeters, this vlet is particularly suitable for use on shallow waters such as canals, ditches, and lakes. The design is traditional and functional, with a robust hull that is characteristic of vlet boats. The boat is made of steel, which contributes to its strength and stability on the water.
Construction and Material Use
The hull of the Vlet 400 is entirely made of steel, a material known for its durability and solid sailing properties. Steel vlets are often chosen for their stability and the sense of security they provide, especially on calm inland waters. The boat features a well, an integrated motor compartment where an outboard motor can be placed. This construction ensures that the motor is partially integrated into the boat, which can reduce noise levels while sailing and better protect the motor from external influences.
Suitable for Various Sailing Conditions
The Vlet 400 is designed for use on inland waters and has been used in the past on canals, ditches, lakes, ponds, and rivers. Due to its compact dimensions, the boat is maneuverable and easy to handle, making it suitable for both urban waterways and open lakes. The boat has been used for recreational purposes such as day trips, pleasure boating, and sporting activities. Thanks to the open nature of the boat, there is ample space for multiple passengers, depending on the layout and weight.
Motorization and Propulsion
The Vlet 400 is equipped with a well for an outboard motor. This means that the boat does not have a built-in motor, but an external motor can be placed in the well. The choice of an outboard motor offers flexibility in power and maintenance. The well construction ensures that the motor is less visible and that the boat exhibits calmer sailing behavior, especially at low speeds.
Maintenance and Usage History
There is no recent data available on when the boat was last taken out of the water or when the last antifouling treatment was performed. These are important considerations for potential buyers who wish to inspect the boat or prepare it for the new sailing season. The condition of the boat is described as fair, which may indicate signs of use or maintenance needed in the future.
Application Possibilities and Target Audience
The Vlet 400 is suitable for water sports enthusiasts looking for a simple, functional boat for recreational use. Due to its size and construction, the boat is particularly interesting for use on calm inland waters. The boat offers possibilities for short trips, fishing, or as a means of transport on the water. Thanks to the steel hull, the boat is resistant to light collisions and contact with quays or lock walls, making it suitable for use in urban environments.
In Summary
The Vlet 400 is a steel boat with a traditional appearance and a practical layout. The presence of a well for an outboard motor offers flexibility in motorization. The boat is designed for use on inland waters and is suitable for recreational use. Potential buyers are advised to further inspect the maintenance condition and technical state of the boat, especially given the lack of recent maintenance data.
