Barkas Europa 950 "Princess" – Steel Motor Yacht with Classic Lines and Modern Equipment
The Barkas Europa 950 "Princess" is a steel motor yacht from 1996, built by the renowned shipyard Barkas. With a length of 9.50 meters, a width of 3.30 meters, and a draft of 1.00 meter, this vessel is suitable for trips on inland waters such as lakes, rivers, and canals. The air draft of approximately 3.00 meters allows it to pass under most bridges, significantly expanding its navigation possibilities.
The hull of the Barkas 950 is made of steel and features a V-bottom, which contributes to the vessel's course stability and steadiness. The hull is equipped with a so-called false keel, providing extra protection to the propeller and rudder. This design contributes to stable sailing characteristics, even at low speeds. The boat is equipped with a single rudder and is steered indoors via a steering wheel.
The motorization consists of a Yanmar inboard diesel engine with a power of 56 hp, distributed over three cylinders. The engine is electrically started and is suitable for quiet and economical sailing, with an average fuel consumption of about 2 to 2.5 liters per hour. For extra maneuverability, the Barkas 950 is equipped with an electric bow thruster, which facilitates docking in harbors and locks.
Inside, the Barkas Europa 950 offers a headroom of 1.95 meters, providing a spacious feel. The salon is connected to the cockpit via large sliding doors, allowing the interior and exterior to blend seamlessly. The large windows provide plenty of natural light and ventilation.
The layout consists of a forward cabin with a double bed (200 x 145 cm) and closet space, a starboard cabin with two bunk beds (200 x 65 cm), and a salon with a convertible sofa that offers an additional sleeping place. In total, there are five fixed berths and one extra berth available.
The galley is equipped with a 90-liter 12v refrigerator, a two-burner gas stove, a sink with hot water, and ample storage space. The wet cell on the port side features an electric toilet, a washbasin, and a hot shower. Hot water is supplied via the engine or shore power (230v).
The Barkas 950 "Princess" is equipped with various amenities that contribute to onboard comfort. There is a Webasto heating system, as well as a solar panel and a battery charger for the electrical installation. The electrical installation operates on both 12v and 220v, allowing the use of household appliances onboard.
In terms of navigation, the ship is equipped with a depth meter and a fishfinder. For anchoring, there is a manual anchor winch with a line. The safety equipment includes a lifebuoy.
The cockpit is fully closable with a convertible top and features a comfortable aft bench with a table. The wide gangways with sturdy guardrails ensure safe movement on deck. The foredeck is finished with maritime teak, which is not only functional but also enhances the ship's appearance.
Aft, there is a spacious swim platform with a foldable swim ladder and railing, ideal for recreational use such as swimming or bringing bicycles. The outdoor equipment further includes a bimini, cockpit tent, outdoor shower, fenders, lines, and outdoor cushions.
The Barkas Europa 950 "Princess" is a motor yacht with a classic appearance and functional, modern equipment. Thanks to the combination of a steel hull, practical layout, and extensive amenities, this vessel is suitable for longer stays onboard and relaxing trips on inland waters. The boat is designed with ease of use, safety, and comfort in mind, and offers space for couples, families, or small groups who want to enjoy sailing in a calm and sheltered environment.
