Doerak 680 from 1974 – Steel Motorboat with Spacious Layout and Practical Equipment
The Doerak 680 is a familiar sight on Dutch inland waters. This motorboat, built in 1974, is a representative example of the robust and functional designs for which the Doerak brand is known. With a length of 7.00 meters and a width of 2.80 meters, this boat offers stable sailing characteristics, suitable for various waterways such as lakes, rivers, canals, and ponds.
Dimensions and Construction
The hull is made of steel, contributing to the solid construction of the ship. The draft is 70 cm, making the boat suitable for shallower waters. The clearance height of 2.80 meters allows it to pass under many bridges, making the Doerak 680 a suitable choice for trips through urban areas and nature reserves with low bridges. Inside, there is a headroom of 1.90 meters, providing a comfortable living space, even for taller individuals.
Layout and Accommodation
The Doerak 680 features a practical layout with a dining area, sleeping accommodation for four people, and an extra sleeping place, making the ship suitable for families or small groups. The available mattresses, a refrigerator, oven, and a two-burner gas stove with a gas bottle make it possible to stay on board for extended periods. The water tank has a capacity of 100 liters. There is a sealock toilet on board, with the discharge directly connected to the surface water.
The cockpit tent provides shelter from sun and rain, and the pulpit and stern seats offer extra seating comfort on deck. The boat is equipped with a teak deck, which adds to the appearance and grip on board. A swim ladder makes it easy to get back on board from the water.
Motorization and Technology
The Doerak 680 is equipped with a Yanmar 2GM20 inboard diesel engine with a power of 18 hp. This engine, with two cylinders, was installed in 1997 and functions properly. The fuel consumption is around 3 liters per hour, with a cruising speed of approximately 5 km/h and a maximum speed of about 10 km/h. The diesel tank has a capacity of 50 liters.
In terms of electrical facilities, the boat is equipped with a battery charger, alternator, solar panel, inverter, and shore power connection. There are two batteries with a total capacity of 220 Ah. The electrical installation operates on 12V and 220V. The Victron inverter ensures a stable power supply on board. An electric bilge pump is available for draining any bilge water.
Documentation and Maintenance
Various documents are available with the boat, including a purchase agreement from 2013. In 2020, several parts were renewed, including the cockpit tent, batteries, and paintwork. The boat was last out of the water for inspection and maintenance in 2024. The last antifouling treatment took place in 2023.
Known Points of Attention
There are a few points of attention, including a tear of about 20 cm in the cockpit tent, rust formation at the folding windows, and a storage box that needs to be repainted on the inside. These points can be considered during a viewing or purchase.
History and Use
The current owner purchased the boat over ten years ago in the harbor of Harderwijk, as a successor to a smaller sailboat. The Doerak has since been used for pleasure cruising, vacations, weekend trips, and day trips. The boat has always wintered on a cradle. The spacious interior, headroom, and practical galley make the ship suitable for recreational use, fishing, and leisurely sailing.
