The Mulder Favoriet 7.2 is a remarkable steel motor yacht with a rich history. This vessel, built in 1953 by the shipyard D. Mulder, is the first model designed and constructed by Dick Mulder himself. Originally intended for his wife, this boat is a rare specimen, with only a few ever made. According to the current owner, this may be the last remaining example of this type, giving the ship a unique position in Dutch yacht-building history.
The Mulder Favoriet 7.2 has a length of 7.20 meters, a width of 2.55 meters, and a draft of 0.65 meters. The clearance height is approximately 2.00 meters, making the ship suitable for various inland waters, canals, and lakes. The hull is made of galvanized steel with a chine form, contributing to stability and sailing characteristics. The superstructure is made of mahogany, providing a classic appearance. The decks and gangways are equipped with a non-slip layer for extra safety on board.
The interior of the boat has largely remained in its original state, including the original curtains with an embroidered "F," referring to the name "Favorietje." The salon features a seating area with two benches and a table, which can be converted into a double sleeping area. On the other side, there is an additional bench that can also serve as a sleeping place. An electric toilet is installed at the front. The kitchen is equipped with a three-burner gas stove, a sink with a tap, and storage space. Under the kitchen counter, there is a cabinet with a jerrycan for the water supply (40 liters). The refrigerator has been removed, but the space is still available.
The boat is powered by a Marine RC 35 E gasoline engine. The engine is equipped with a temperature gauge and tachometer. For the electrical installation, there is a dynamo, as well as a voltmeter and two batteries. The onboard voltage is 12V. Additionally, there is an instrument for detecting gasoline or gas fumes, contributing to onboard safety.
In terms of navigation, the boat is equipped with a log/speedometer. For comfort on deck, various amenities are available, including a cockpit table, outdoor cushions, fenders, lines, and a swim ladder. The boat has two anchors with line attachments. The tarpaulins are removable, allowing for flexible sailing: fully open in good weather or partially closed for protection against sun or wind. The steering position is equipped with a steering wheel and two fixed, foldable chairs. At the back, there is a bench with a cushion. For entertainment, there is a CD player with speakers.
Documentation is provided with the boat, including the original purchase contract from the previous owner, who bought the ship directly from Dick Mulder in 2006. After her passing, the boat was transferred to the current owner through inheritance. The boat is not registered.
There are some signs of use, including two small tears in a piece of sail and discoloration of the white edges of the sails.
The Mulder Favoriet 7.2 has been used for pleasure cruising, day trips, vacations, and weekend stays. Thanks to the removable sails and the open cockpit, it is possible to sail both sheltered and in the open air. The boat has mainly been used on inland waters, canals, and lakes. The combination of steel and mahogany provides a characteristic appearance and an authentic sailing experience.
The Mulder Favoriet 7.2 is not only a functional vessel but also a piece of Dutch shipbuilding history. The boat has remained in its original state, including interior details from 1953. This makes the ship attractive to enthusiasts of classic motor yachts and collectors.
Various accessories are included in the sale, including ropes with fenders, kitchen utensils, crockery, mugs, and cooking pans. A trailer is not included.
This Mulder Favoriet 7.2 offers a unique opportunity for enthusiasts of classic ships with a story. Thanks to the combination of authentic details, functional equipment, and a rich history, this ship is a valuable addition to any sailing season.
