Specifications
Cabin Sloop 550 – Wooden Sloop with Cabin and Classic Appearance
The Cabin Sloop 550 is a wooden sloop with a characteristic appearance, equipped with a small cabin. With a length of 5.50 meters and a width of 1.60 meters, this boat offers space for multiple passengers and is suitable for leisurely trips on inland waters. The draft of 40 centimeters allows it to navigate shallower waters, making the sloop usable in various sailing areas such as canals, lakes, and rivers.
Construction and Material
The hull and superstructure of this sloop are entirely made of wood, contributing to the classic and authentic appearance of the vessel. Wooden boats generally require more attention and maintenance than boats made of polyester or aluminum, and this also applies to this cabin sloop. The current state of the woodwork shows significant overdue maintenance, meaning that work is needed to bring the boat back to optimal condition. However, this also offers opportunities for enthusiasts of classic ships or DIYers looking for a restoration project.
Layout and Comfort
The sloop is equipped with a small cabin, providing extra shelter from the weather and the possibility to store items dry. The cabin is compact but functional and can be adjusted or refurbished to personal preference. The open cockpit offers seating for multiple people, making the boat suitable for day trips with family or friends.
Motorization
The Cabin Sloop 550 is equipped with an inboard engine from the brand Sabb. The exact specifications of the engine are unknown, and the operation of the engine is currently not determined but appears neglected and in poor condition. Potential buyers are advised to have the engine thoroughly inspected or consider replacing it, depending on the condition and intended use of the boat. Sabb is a brand known for its robust diesel engines, often used in traditional vessels.
Possibilities and Potential
Although the current state of the Cabin Sloop 550 is described as very moderate, the vessel offers potential for restoration. The classic lines and wooden character make it an attractive project for enthusiasts of traditional ships. With the right attention and craftsmanship, this sloop can be transformed into a charming and functional vessel for recreational use.
Conclusion
The Cabin Sloop 550 is a wooden sloop with a classic appearance and a compact cabin. Due to its state of maintenance, the vessel is particularly interesting for buyers looking for a restoration project or a boat with character that can be refurbished according to personal insight. The dimensions make the sloop suitable for use on inland waters, and the presence of a cabin offers extra comfort while sailing. Given the unknown condition of the engine and woodwork, an inspection prior to purchase is recommended.
