The Bekebrede Noordkaper is a seaworthy and comfortable 1980 sailing boat with a length of 19.96 meters, a width of 3.89 meters and a draft of 1.65 meters. Steering is by tiller and the vessel has extensive navigation equipment, including a compass, depth sounder, autopilot, radar, VHF radio, wind meter and GPS. Electrical facilities include two batteries, a battery charger, a solar panel, an alternator, a voltmeter and shore power connection.
The rigging consists of one aluminum mast and ten sails, including a mainsail, genoa, storm jib, gennaker, mizzen, jib, jib and halfwinder. Externally, the boat is equipped with a swim ladder, sea railing, fenders and lines, and a spray hood. Safety equipment includes a life buoy, fire extinguisher, self-draining cockpit and life jackets, with an electric bilge pump as an emergency supply.
Although the boat has some minor flaws, it was last taken out of the water for maintenance in 2024 and received another antifouling treatment in 2022. The boat is registered with the Dutch Land Registry, with VAT paid, but is not free of mortgages or encumbrances. Documentation includes a valuation report from 2008. The Noordkaper has been used for pleasure cruising, living and vacations and offers a seaworthy experience with a rich history, including five years of occupancy by a sea captain.
