The Ariel, a Sloop rigged centerboard yacht H280 of the brand Baron van Hovell, is a special and original Dutch sailing yacht, fully restored and in good condition. This unique vessel was originally built in 1957 at the Westhaven Shipyard in Zaandam according to the design of Baron van Hövell. At 854 centimeters long and 275 centimeters wide, the Ariel offers room for comfortable sailing with a draft of 1 meter to 1.85 meters thanks to the retractable centerboard.
Accommodation on board includes a dining area, pillows, a refrigerator, mattresses, curtains, and a stove. The interior has been carefully renovated, with the hull carefully restored and repainted, and various modifications made for optimal comfort. The boat offers berths for 5 people, with 2 berths in the forecastle, a double bed in the center section, and a bed in the aft section.
The boat is powered by a Vetus M4.14 engine with 35 hp. All documentation, including construction drawings and engine manuals, is available. In addition, several parts have been renewed, including the mast, boom, kitchenette, electric toilet, holding tank, cushions, floor, tiller, railing, batteries, control panel, and lights.
Electronics and navigation are complete with depth gauges, log speedometers, GPS, compass, and rangefinder. Two batteries and an alternator, provide a reliable power supply. The rig includes 7 sails, including mainsails, jibs, a storm jib and a spinnaker, and a furling and reefing system for the mainsail.
The exterior features all necessary equipment, including a sea railing, fenders, and exterior lighting. The boat is equipped with an electric bilge pump for water drainage and offers safety with a self-draining cockpit, sea railing with net, non-skid deck, and safety equipment such as a signal cone and night lights.
