This sailing yacht, named Bird, was built in 1989 by Jachtwerf gebroeders van Workum B.V. The hull is made of 10 mm overlaminated mahogany plywood. Recently the boat has undergone maintenance, including replacing the teak deck in 2020, performed by Scheepstimmerwerf van Helden. The exterior has been completely refurbished, with the underwater hull treated with copper coat and the upper waterline coated with boat primer and boat varnish.
Although the Bird is spacious and comfortable, sleeping four, she needs some maintenance. The transom needs to be replaced and some parts of the cockpit require repair. The cockpit roof needs to be re-laminated in a few places, for which 2-component epoxy is provided.
With a displacement of 1200 kg and a total sail area of 24.6 square meters, Bird offers good sailing characteristics and maneuvers easily, "like an open boat." This Stringer 730 has captured her special moments on Instagram under the name "the sailing bird.
Included with the sale are 4 mooring lines, 5 mm stainless steel rigging with double forestay and backstay, summer and winter sail and spare parts. Although the boat has some flaws, she has been fully serviced and prepared for new adventures in 2020.
