The Koopmans 38' kits is a sturdy sailing yacht built at the famous Delta shipyard Brielle in 1983. With a length of 11.50 meters, a beam of 3.50 meters and a draft of 1.70 meters, this sailboat offers a balanced combination of stability and maneuverability. The S-frame hull design, designed by Koopmans himself, contributes to the vessel's seaworthiness and calm sea behavior.
The steering, equipped with a steering wheel located outside, allows for precise maneuvering of the boat. The single rudder contributes to course keeping, and the 38' kits weighs about 10,500 kg, further promoting stability.
Inside the accommodation there is room for 6 people in fixed berths, and headroom inside is a comfortable 1.90 meters. The dining area, equipped with cushions, offers a cozy space, and the kitchen is equipped with an oven, refrigerator, and stove. Furthermore, the boat has a manual toilet and a hot-air heating system for comfort during cooler days.
Powering the Koopmans 38' kits is a Bukh DV36 engine with an output of 36 hp. With approximately 2,500 running hours and a 340-liter fuel tank, this engine provides enough power and range for various sailing adventures. Onboard electronics and navigation equipment, including a compass, depth sounder, autopilot, chart plotter, radar, VHF radio, and GPS, enable the sailor to find his way safely and informed.
The rigging of the 38' kits consists of two aluminum masts and six sails, including a mainsail, mizzen, genoa, storm jib, halfwinder, and jib. The furling and reefing system for the headsail makes sailing flexible and easy to adapt to different weather conditions.
With a full set of exterior equipment, including anchor, spray hood, cockpit tent, pulpit and stern chairs, swim ladder, cockpit table, outside cushions, sea railing, fenders and lines, and a crane hoist, the Koopmans 38' kits well-equipped for comfort and safety while sailing.
Safety features such as lifebuoys, fire extinguishers, a self-draining cockpit, a life raft and life jackets add to onboard security. There is also an electric bilge pump and two hand bilge pumps.
The boat's history is rich, with the current owners having made many trips to various destinations since 1999, including the Baltic Sea, the Norwegian coasts, the Channel Islands, and around England, Scotland and Ireland. The Koopmans 38' kits has proven to be a companion even in challenging weather conditions. The boat has been maintained, with the last maintenance and antifouling treatment in May 2021. And although there are signs of use, the overall condition of the boat remains solid and ready for new sailing adventures.
