The "Slice of Life" is a sturdy cabin boat with a length of 6.30 meters and a width of 1.95 meters. Built by Beenakker, this boat has a steel hull in an articulated form, making it suitable for a variety of water conditions. Despite its age, the boat's year of construction is unknown, but it still exudes a certain charm.
The interior of the boat offers space for two permanent berths and features a dining area, complete with pillows, mattresses and curtains. The headroom inside is 1.40 meters, providing comfort for those on board. Unfortunately, hot water and a toilet are missing, so some improvisation may be necessary for longer trips.
The engine of the "Slice of Life" is a Yamaha outboard motor rated at 9.9 hp, built in 1980. Unfortunately, the engine is currently inoperative and appears to have a carburetor problem. Electrical supplies are limited to a 12V battery that can be charged from shore power.
Outside, the boat is well equipped with three anchors, a chain-and-line attachment system, a swim ladder and outdoor cushions for comfortable lounging. There is also a tarp to protect the boat from the elements, and fenders and lines for safe mooring.
While the "Slice of Life" certainly has potential, it should be noted that the boat is currently in a state of many flaws. The engine needs repair, and the steering needs attention. The last time the boat was taken out of the water for maintenance and an antifouling treatment was in 2017, so some work is needed to restore it to optimal condition.
Despite its flaws, the "Slice of Life" is a boat with potential for adventurous pleasure boaters. With some love and attention, this primal boat can be brought back to life, and who knows, maybe future memories of family days out, swimming and barbecuing aboard will be as valuable as those of the past.
