The Van de Stadt Bries is an old, honest and reliable ship from 1971 that is extremely suitable for vacations and day trips. It is a seaworthy ship and sails very well, even above 25 knots. But do not expect a yacht with a furling jib and extensive new equipment.
The Van de Stadt Bries has the original interior, documentation and inboard engine (MD1A Volvo Penta engine). Every two years it goes out of the water to replace the antifouling and perform other maintenance. The cushions were completely renewed in 2019, as well as the 2 batteries. It also has a mainsail, 2 jibs, and a storm jib. There is a handheld GPS on board.
Known defects: the engine runs well, but the V-belt is in need of replacement. The spray hood and sail cover are outdated. Electrics need to be replaced.
