Authentic Steel Flat-bottomed Boat with Character and Potential
This characterful steel flat-bottomed boat offers a unique combination of nostalgia, functionality, and versatility. Originally built as a cow barge, the vessel has been converted over the past two years into a pleasure boat with a robust appearance and a solid foundation. With a length of 8 meters and a width of 1.70 meters, this flat-bottomed boat is extremely suitable for trips on inland waters, canals, lakes, and rivers. Thanks to the shallow draft of only 20 cm and a clearance height of 1 meter, it is possible to sail under low bridges and explore shallow waters, making the boat particularly suitable for adventurous day trips and relaxing cruises in urban or rural environments.
Flat-bottomed 800 now in the online auction. Everyone can bid until February 16, 2026.
Construction and Sailing Characteristics
The hull is made of steel and has a flat bottom, which ensures a stable position in the water. Steering is done via a wheel on the aft deck, allowing for direct and clear control. The boat is equipped with a single rudder and has two engines: a 40 hp gasoline outboard motor from the brand Marinier with electric start, and a second, electric outboard motor of 4 hp. This combination offers flexibility in propulsion and allows for both powerful sailing and quiet, environmentally friendly maneuvering in natural areas or urban waters.
The electric bow thruster contributes to improved maneuverability, especially when docking or navigating narrow canals. The boat is equipped with an electrical system with three batteries (total 110 ah, 12v), which are charged via a solar panel. This makes it possible to sail autonomously for longer periods without relying on shore power.
Equipment and Possibilities
Although the boat has been largely refurbished, the interior still offers room for further finishing to your own taste. This makes the vessel attractive to enthusiasts who want to put their own stamp on the design and layout. The foundation is laid, and the construction is ready for further personalization, whether it concerns seating, storage space, or comfort facilities.
The boat comes with a matching road trailer with a license plate, suitable for road transport. The trailer is braked, has three axles, a load capacity of 3500 kg, and is equipped with 20 rollers and a trailer winch. This makes it easy to transport the boat and launch it at various locations.
Sailing Experience and Appearance
This flat-bottomed boat attracts attention on the water thanks to its authentic appearance and low profile. The combination of traditional lines and modern adaptations makes it a striking appearance, especially in historic city centers and on picturesque waterways. The shallow draft and low clearance height ensure that you can sail almost anywhere, making the boat particularly suitable for canals, ditches, and other hard-to-reach waters.
The current owner has enjoyed sailing on various inland waters and cites sailing through the canals, with the many looks the boat attracts, as one of the most beautiful memories. The boat offers space for day trips with family or friends and is an excellent choice for those looking for a characterful ship with potential for further development.
Summary
This steel flat-bottomed boat is a solid foundation for those looking for a unique and functional pleasure boat with a story. The combination of a robust construction, practical sailing characteristics, and the possibility for further finishing makes this ship attractive to both novice and experienced water sports enthusiasts. Thanks to the included trailer, the vessel is also easy to transport, increasing its usability. An excellent opportunity for those looking for a characterful boat with room for personal input.
