Finnclipper Motorsailor 1978 – Classic Motorsailer with Versatile Sailing Capabilities
The Finnclipper motorsailor from 1978 is a polyester sail-motorboat with a length of 8.90 meters and a width of 3.15 meters. Thanks to its shallow draft of 1.10 meters and an air draft of approximately 3 meters, this vessel is suitable for a wide range of sailing areas, including inland waters, canals, lakes, and coastal waters. The S-shaped hull and tiller steering provide a traditional sailing experience, while the combination of sail and motor propulsion offers flexibility under various weather conditions.
The Finnclipper is equipped with two enclosed cabins: a fore cabin with a V-shaped bed and a second cabin with two single berths. In the salon, two additional berths can be created, bringing the total to six. The interior headroom is 1.80 meters, providing sufficient freedom of movement for most passengers.
The galley is equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, and freezer. The presence of a manual toilet and hot air heating makes staying on board possible even in colder seasons. The water tank has a capacity of 300 liters, which is sufficient for multi-day trips.
The boat is powered by a Perkins 4108 diesel engine with an output of 50 hp. This inboard engine is electrically started and uses a propeller shaft with grease-lubricated bearings. The cruising speed is around 6 km/h, with a maximum speed of approximately 7 km/h. The fuel tank has a capacity of 360 liters, providing a generous range.
The electrical system consists of a 12V and 220V system, including a battery charger, alternator, inverter, shore power connection, and a solar panel. There are three batteries on board: one 75Ah starter battery and two 120Ah service batteries. The boat is equipped with various instruments, including a fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and tachometer.
For navigation, the Finnclipper is equipped with a depth sounder, GPS, chart plotter, compass, and wind meter. This makes the vessel suitable for both short trips and longer journeys. In terms of safety, there is an electric bilge pump and a lifebuoy on board.
The Finnclipper is rigged as a sloop with one mast and two sails: a mainsail and a foresail (jib and genoa). The foresail is equipped with a furling system. The condition of the sails is described as moderate to poor, which may require attention from the future owner. The boat is further equipped with an electric windlass, anchor with chain and line, and various deck equipment such as a bimini, cockpit tent, tarpaulins, fenders, lines, and a swim ladder.
The boat was taken out of the water in October 2023 and has been on the hard in Lelystad since then. During this period, the gas installations were replaced and certified. The last antifouling treatment took place in 2023. No signs of osmosis have been detected.
Documentation such as a sales agreement and a broker's specification are available.
This Finnclipper motorsailor from 1978 offers a combination of motor and sail power, suitable for various sailing areas. With a practical layout, ample tank capacity, and basic amenities on board, the vessel is suitable for both day trips and multi-day journeys. The boat is currently available for viewing on the hard in Lelystad.
