A beautiful two-masted clipper from the traditional Dutch Brown Fleet

The Averechts is part of the famous Brown Fleet, the professional passenger sailing with traditional sailing ships in the Netherlands and the sailing heritage of the Dutch waters. This fleet consists of more than 400 classic sailing ships, which were formerly used for cargo transport or fishing. Today, these ships offer unique sailing holidays, ranging from short day trips to multi-week adventurous journeys.

The name ‘Brown Fleet’ refers to the characteristic, light brown color of the sails. This color was created by tanning the sails with catechu, giving the ships their warm, recognizable appearance.

Construction and design

The Averechts is a robust iron two-masted clipper, built in Gouda in 1892. With her 36.16 meters in length and 6.09 meters in width, she has a solid flat bottom, ideal for stable sailing. The classic colors black, green, red, and white give her a timeless appearance, while the high-quality Epifanes coating provides protection against the elements.

Interior and accommodation

With a fore and aft cabin, living quarters, and spacious passenger accommodation, the Averechts offers comfortable and practical space for both charter guests and owners who combine luxury and adventure.

Engine and technical equipment

Propulsion is provided by a Detroit Diesel GM V8 engine with 174 kW power, including a hydraulic reversing gear and a three-blade bronze propeller. The bow thruster makes docking easy and safe.

Electrical installation and power supply

The Averechts is equipped with an electrical installation that meets the requirements for comfortable and safe sailing during longer journeys.
