3b Craft from 1973 – Classic Motor Yacht with Character and Space
This 3b Craft from 1973 is a motor yacht with a length of 10 meters and a width of 3 meters. The ship was built by the Martin-Yacht shipyard in Grell, Lübeck-Schlutup, and features a composite hull with a V-bottom. The boat is designed for comfortable onboard living and offers space for multiple people, with two fixed berths and two additional berths. Thanks to the clearance height of 6 meters and a draft of 2 meters, the ship is suitable for both inland and coastal waters.
Layout and Accommodation
Inside, the boat offers a headroom of 2 meters, providing a spacious feel. The layout is focused on comfort and practical use, with amenities such as a dining area, shower, toilet (vacuum system), stove, refrigerator, mattresses, and hot water. The mahogany superstructure gives the interior a classic appearance. The boat has a water tank of 400 liters and a diesel tank of 600 liters, allowing for extended stays onboard.
The onboard heating is based on hot air, contributing to comfort during cooler days. The boat is equipped with an electric bow thruster system, which facilitates maneuvering in harbors.
Engine and Technology
The 3b Craft is equipped with two Volvo Penta TMD40A inboard diesel engines, each with a power of 125 hp. Both engines are from the year 1977 and have approximately 900 operating hours each. The engines are started electrically. The cruising speed is around 8 km/h, with a maximum speed of about 15 km/h. The boat is equipped with instruments such as an oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and tachometer.
The electrical installation onboard operates on 12V and is equipped with a battery charger and a solar panel. There is one battery present. Navigation equipment includes a compass and a log/speedometer.
Exterior and Deck Equipment
On deck, the boat is equipped with various elements that enhance the onboard experience. There is a bimini for shade, a cockpit table, teak deck, guardrail, swim platform, and swim ladder. There is also an electrically operated anchor winch with chain and an anchor. The boat has davits for hanging a dinghy and a cover (tarpaulin) for protection against weather conditions.
Documentation and Registration
The boat is registered with an International Certificate for Pleasure Craft (ICP) under number 19040-A, and the VAT has been paid. Documentation is available, including an engine manual from 1977. Since 2018, the boat has been stored in a shed and has not been in the water since. The last antifouling treatment also dates from 2018.
Known Points of Attention
There are a few points that require attention. The bilge pump needs to be checked, the diesel in the full tank needs to be cleaned, and the water tank needs to be cleaned. Additionally, the mahogany wood in some places needs a new coat of varnish. In the past, there was a malfunction in the steering system, where the hoses between the steering position and the rudder were worn out. These have been replaced with original parts from the shipyard.
History and Use
The boat was purchased in Neustadt on the Baltic Sea and has since been used for pleasure cruising, vacations, and weekend stays. The owner has sailed the boat on lakes, rivers, and seas. Due to circumstances, the boat has been used little in recent years. The owner describes the ship as a nostalgic retreat with a warm atmosphere, thanks in part to the mahogany superstructure and the layout that invites relaxing evenings on the aft deck.
Included Equipment
Various accessories are included in the sale, including tableware, tools, mattresses, and the existing VHF radio.
Summary
This 3b Craft from 1973 is a classic motor yacht with a characteristic appearance and a functional layout.
