The Gray Baron, a ship with a design that will appeal to both experienced sailors and adventurous souls.
The Grey Baron, from the Baron van Höevell brand. With a length of 9 meters and a bowsprit of 80 cm (total 9.8 m) and a width of 2.55 meters, this steel vessel offers enough space and stability for comfortable sailing. The draft of 1.55 meters makes it possible to explore inland waters as well as open seas.
Designed by Baron van Höevell and built at the Muller yard in 1963. With an s-spant hull shape, tiller steering and single rudder, this vessel offers fine sailing.
On board you will find curtains, mattresses, a stove and comfortable cushions. Although no hot water is provided, a stove provides warmth during cooler sailing trips. The toilet is manual and discharges directly into the open water.
The Grey Baron is powered by a 1962 Sabb diesel engine, rated at 9 hp and a maximum speed of 8 knots. With a fuel tank capacity of 40 liters and consumption of 1 liter per hour, this engine offers a balance between power and efficiency.
Electronics and navigation are extensively equipped, including a compass, depth sounder, autopilot, VHF radio, GPS and AIS receiver, allowing you to navigate safely and accurately, even on the open sea.
The rig includes one mast and four sails, including a battened mainsail, genoa and storm jib. With two anchors, a spray hood and sea railing, the Grey Baron offers the necessary equipment for a safe and comfortable sailing experience.
Previous owners adapted the ship for big water, including a special layout for solo or duo sailing. A solo trip to Svalbard in 2011 confirmed the excellent sailing characteristics and comfort of this ship.
Whether exploring inland waters or braving the open seas, the Grey Baron is ready to take you on your next adventure.
